The Playbook List

The list shows all playbooks with their title, version, and whether they are published or in draft. From here you can edit, export, or create new playbooks.

Creating a Playbook

Click New Playbook and fill in:

  • The title
  • A short description
  • The initial access level (who can read it)

Backtick creates a web address for the playbook automatically from the title. You're taken to the playbook settings page after creation.

Editing a Playbook's Settings

Click a playbook's title to open its settings page. The things you can change:

Setting What It Does
Title The name displayed everywhere on the platform
Web address The link used to reach this playbook — changing it will break any existing bookmarks or shared links
Description The summary shown on the catalog card
Intro video A short video shown on the catalog card
Status Draft keeps it hidden; Published makes it visible in the catalog
Access level Who can read it: everyone, signed-in users, or paid access only
Author Which user is credited as the author
Help content When turned on, the playbook appears in the Help panel rather than the main catalog
Reader messages Who is allowed to send messages to the author

Removing a Playbook

You have three options when removing a playbook:

  • Archive — hides the playbook from the catalog immediately. It stays in the system and can be restored at any time.
  • Restore — brings an archived playbook back to its previous state.
  • Permanently delete — removes the playbook and all its plays completely. This cannot be undone.

Importing a Playbook

Click Import on the playbook list to upload a file containing a complete playbook. Backtick reads the file and creates the playbook and all its plays automatically. This is useful for bringing in content you've prepared outside of Backtick.

Exporting a Playbook

Click Export Playbook next to any playbook to download a complete copy of it, including all plays. You can keep this as a backup or use it to move the playbook to another account.

Replacing All the Plays in a Playbook

Click Replace Content on the playbook settings page to upload a file that replaces all the plays in the playbook at once. The playbook's title, settings, and access permissions are not changed — only the play content is replaced.

Letting Readers Know Something Changed

Click Notify Readers on the playbook settings page to send an email to everyone who has access to the playbook, letting them know it has been updated.
