Asking AI Questions
Every play has two ways to get AI help — you can click on content to get an instant explanation, or open the Ask AI panel to ask your own questions.
Click any bullet point — or select any text — for an instant explanation. Click directly on any bullet in a play, or highlight any sentence, phrase, or passage and click the Ask AI button that appears. The AI immediately explains what you clicked or selected in the context of what you're reading. No typing required.
In every case the explanation tells you what the content means, how it connects to the surrounding ideas in the play, and adds relevant background from authoritative sources — official documentation, Wikipedia, and other high-quality references — so you get a complete picture without leaving the page.
How the AI labels its answers. When an explanation draws directly from the playbook content, it is labeled Course Content. When the AI is filling in background knowledge from general sources — official documentation, reference material, established definitions — it is labeled General Knowledge. This way you always know what came from the playbook author and what the AI is adding on its own.
Ask your own questions. Each play also has an Ask AI a Question panel. To use it:
- Click the toggle to open the panel
- Type your question
- Press submit — you'll get an AI answer in seconds, grounded in the content of the play
Your question history stays visible in the panel while you're on the play so you can refer back to earlier answers. Use the clear button to start fresh.
Ask AI is available to all registered users. Backtick provides shared AI credits at no cost. For unlimited usage, you can optionally add your own Google Gemini key in your account settings. See the AI Setup section below.
Tracking Your Progress
When you finish reading a play, your completion is saved automatically. Completed plays show a checkmark in the playbook's play list, so you always know where you left off.
